Tips for gathering evidence to demonstrate your skills

The important thing to remember when gathering evidence is that the more evidence the better - that is, the more evidence you gather to demonstrate your skills, the more confident an assessor can be that you have learned the skills not just at one point in time, but are continuing to apply and develop those skills (as opposed to just learning for the test!). Furthermore, one piece of evidence that you collect will not usualy demonstrate all the required criteria for a unit of competency, whereas multiple overlapping pieces of evidence will usually do the trick!

RIISTD301D - Take environmental samples and measurements

What evidence can you provide to prove your understanding of each of the following citeria?

Plan and prepare for sampling and measurement

  1. Access, interpret and apply risk management documentation and ensure the work activity is compliant
  2. Read, clarify and confirm the purpose, priority and scope of the sample/measurement request or plan
  3. Liaise with relevant personnel to coordinate and arrange site access and all necessary clearances/permits
  4. Identify, address and report potential hazards and risks and environmental issues
  5. Select and wear personal protective equipment appropriate to the task
  6. Confirm quantity, location, frequency or time/measurement of sampling and types of samples to be collected
  7. Select, assemble and inspect required sampling tools and equipment, and check document for faults
